Marks & Spencer and Oxfam have launched the M&S and Oxfam Clothes Exchange, a big programme in the UK to encourage consumers to recycle their clothes.
The Exchange is part Plan A, the M&S' five-year, 100-point 'eco' plan. The plan aims to work together with consumers and suppliers in facing some of the main challenge in the world: to combat climate change, reduce waste, safeguard natural resources, trade ethically and build a healthier nation.
The Exchange is a campaing of clothing recycling which aims to raise money for Oxfam and to reduce the one million tonnes of clothing unused.
Each time a customer make a donation of M&S clothes to Oxfam, he/she will receive a voucher worth£5 (6.70 euro) to be used, by a month, in their next purchase of more than £35 (47euro) on clothing, homeware or beauty products at M&S.
After six months the campaign will br trialled and reviewed on the results' basis.
Oxfam will use the money for its campaign, including to fight unfair trade rules, to provide tools, seeds and skills to poor farmers, to help vulnerable communities, to support women's rights in developing countries and to tackle climate change and HIV.
