Andalucia?s local government, la Junta de Andalucia, has launched an environmental campaign this week aimed at raising awareness about climate change and encouraging the participation of citizens in activities that reduce human impact on the environment. The campaign, called ?Eco-heroes for the climate?, revolves around a website designed to capture the attention of the younger generation by making environmental awareness hip.
Although there is nothing new in the energy saving advice promoted by the campaign ? who these days doesn?t know they should travel by bike and public transport whenever possible, recycle paper or turn off electrical appliances when not in use? The website does have a fun eco-heroes downloads section for children where they can download eco-heroes screen savers, mobile phone jingles messenger avatars and comic strips, as well as an interactive computer game where you will only become a fully fledged eco-hero by holding your ground against the evil CO2.
Within the campaign a number of participatory events are planned, such as a bike race open to the students of Andalucia?s nine Universities that will be held on the 8th November.
