Italy: The Red Cross commits to microcredit

The meeting of the World Committee on the Development of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Half moon has taken place in Geneva on the 28th and 29th of April, under the chairmanship of Massimo Barra, President of the Italian Red Cross (Cri).

Among the issues that were examined were, says a Cri spokesperson: "the level of implementation by the Federation and by the National Societies of the Third Objective of the Global Agenda that states that local communities, civil society and the International Movement, must all raise their capacities in order to cope with the most urgent and vulnerable situations. Connected to this is the possibility that the International Movement should become more involved in microcredit projects, that up to now have just been used by a limited number of National Societies.?
