VitaEurope.org: a web portal for the European not for profit sector

The best of the European not for profit sector? That?s right! You are reading in English ? and you are about to discover the best of the European non profit sector. It is Vita Europe?s mission to find and report the news stories from a geographical area extending from Spain to the Baltic States and including the newest EU member states.

The monthly newspaper, written in English, that Vita content company launched a year ago as the voice of European civil society?s best practices has grown in the space of only 12 months to become an up and running portal, a reference point for the non profit sector in Europe, New and Old. It is a news portal with articles, interviews and in depth reviews, but also campaigns and international events and meetings.

It has been achieved through a joint effort between Vita and its 15 members from 13 different European countries. Their identikits? As diverse as the individuals of the civil society they represent: Vita Europe?s network is made up of charities, cooperatives, foundations, social enterprises and freelance journalists. Six of them will be attending the presentation of the new web portal and its contents that will take place at Civitas. The conference is called ?Vita Europe: an information portal for the non profit sector? and will be held at Piazzetta Civitas on the 6th of May from 12.00 to 14.00.

Some, but not all, of the topics that will be discussed include the difficulties encountered by the development of civil society in ex communist countries, social enterprise, networking and trans-national philanthropy.
