The ?Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria? and the Spanish Agency for International Co-operation have organised a seminar in Madrid this November whose aim has been to debate peace construction in the framework of development aid. During the seminar the most outstanding trends have been analysed and new lines of work have been identified in order to help the Spanish Government to have an effective strategy of its own in this field.

In the course of the seminar the approach of the international community to armed conflicts and to the challenges of peace construction as well as the role of bodies such as the United Nations have been explored.

Experiences of countries that have made significant progress towards peace through development aid were also disseminated, as well as the on-the-spot work of NGOs active in this field.
