UKRAINE: Yushchenko in favour of ratifying the European Social Charter
The Ukrainian Parliament has passed a bill on the ratification of the European Social Charter through Ukraine on 21 July 2006.
The ratification of the European Social Charter would oblige Ukraine to guarantee basic social rights as right to secure and healthy working conditions, childrens? protection, right to vocational training, right to social security for disabled, family protection and protection of rights of migrant workers. In mid August President Yushchenko voted for the ratification of the Social Charter as in the President’s opinion Ukraine would not be able to comply with the financial obligations which are connected with the Charter’s provisions for shortages of budgetary means.
