UK: New funding for community transport projects
Fifteen community transport projects across Scotland are to receive over £1 million (1.4 million euro) in funding from the Scottish Executive's Rural Community Transport Initiative.
“This devolved government is committed to improving transport links for people living in areas where they are limited. Already community minibuses, dial-a-bus services and car sharing schemes are making a real difference for people living in Scotland’s rural and remote areas.
This new funding will help further bridge the transport gap in these areas for groups such as the elderly, the disabled and young people”. Said the Scottish Transport Minister Tavish Scott.
The projects include a volunteer car sharing scheme in Aberdeenshire, and a community minibus in the Scottish Borders.
