Italy: A new park has born
Prime minister Prodi's government created Appennino Lucano National Park

Italian government has approved the proclamation of a new protected area in Southern Italy, National Park of Appennino Lucano, Val d'Agri and Lagonegrese, in Basilicata region. The decision has been assumed on proposal of minister of the Enviroment, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, after a several years procedure. The new park is now the 24th protected area in Italy and the second in Basilicata, after the Pollino Park, the largest in the country. www.legambiente.it
