Italy: 5×1000 to help the Third sector

The new fiscal measure isn’t another tax, but an “invitation to donate” from the citizens to the State Starting from this year, Italian contributors can destinate the “5×1000” of their taxable income to non profit organizations. The new measure is not a new tax but a sort of “instruction” the citizens give to the State about the destination of that part of the taxes. For example, if a contributor must pay 1000 euro and choose to destinate 5×1000, instruct the State to give 5 euro out of 1000 to a particular sector (health, education, scientific research) or to a specific non profit organization. If the same contributor didn’t subscibe 5×1000, the State would employ all 1000 euro for its needs. www.vita.it
