Ukraine: the first volunteer agency

In April 2006 the citie’s first Volunteer Agency opened in Chernivci, Western Ukraine. The agency was set up in order to encourage inhabitants of Chernivci to become active in local NGOs and social projects and so to improve social ties, mutual responsibility and citizen’s activity in the city of Chernivci. The agency will inform inhabitants of Chernivci about how to become a volunteer and how to find an interesting placement. NGOs may receive advice about how to attract and inform volunteers, how to include their work into the own organisation structure and how to develop a culture of acknowledgement for volunteers. The agency is set up in the scope of the EC funded project ?NGO development in Ukraine?. The agency is located in Lomonosova ulica 2 in Chernvci. www.civilsociety.cv.ua
