Spain: Ethical competition with bank savings accounts

Triodos Bank has presented the ?fair account? in agreement with NGOs Ideas, Intermón and Setem. The ?fair account? is a savings account with no bank charges which gathers the concepts of solidarity-based and ethical finances. It is ethical because it follows the criteria of the Triodos Bank to support projects of sustainable development; and it is also solidarity-based because a percentage of the interests is earmarked to support fair trade. The fair account is aimed at individuals, enterprises, organisations, public organisations, etc., which is a proof that in Spain ethical finances have become a real alternative to traditional financial systems. www.intermonoxfam.org
