Macedonia: strategy for the Roma facilitates EU integrations
The project aims to prepare Roma community and NGOs to take responsibility for the development of community, democracy and the region
?Felix? and ?Roma Star? NGOs held a round-table discussion in Bitola, last week, to discuss the topic ?Implementation of Strategy for the Roma Facilitates EU Integration?. In the discussion, they came to the conclusion that two memoranda of cooperation need to be signed as soon as possible, one with the local self-government and the other with Employment Agency. According to Dijana Gjorgievska, President of ?Felix?, the two memoranda should provide for timely and correct information about new job openings to interested members of Roma community, having in mind that they don?t read newspapers and don?t follow the job announcements. She added that a survey conducted by ?Felix? shows that 90 of Roma households own a TV set but that almost nobody watches programmes with job listings. The project aims to prepare Roma community and NGOs, as well as the local self-government to take joint action in decentralization processes, i.e. to take responsibility for the development of community, democracy and the region. The round-table discussion was financially supported by the European Agency for Reconstruction.
