Italy: Car sharing financed by Minis. of the Environment

A bonus for people deciding to pass to car sharing is on its way, through demolishing one?s car. It is a first, important step, towards ?the absolute incentive?, that should be given to those who choose to demolish a polluting car without necessarily buying another one. This incentive is contained in the new agreement signed between the Ministry of the Environment and the Initiative of Municipalities for car sharing (ICS), that allocates 10 million euros given by the Ministry. Car sharing is now operational in eight cities, Venice, Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Modena, province of Rimini, Rome and Florence. It is used by 5022 users who have driven 2.608.822 kilometres and who can count on more than 200 cars at their disposal 24 hours a day and booked on the web.
