When I grew up in my wealthy provincial town I was taught that happiness resides in life-long marriage with the person you love. Is this still the truth in a globalising society?
Many years ago I left my quiet provincial corner to discover the world. Actually I left to spend two weeks in Paris but I never came back.
In Paris, the capital of savoir vivre, I realised that the province is good for kids and a single relationship, but for everyone else it’s a pretty boring limitation in ever expanding society… Like the life-long job.
Interconnectedness offers a constant exposure to opportunities and people from all other the world. If you leave the door open everyone can be a new and different opportunity of learning and partnership… to make the world a better place… and my life more interesting.
So, I decided that I wouldn’t ever come back to my reassuring home village but embrace our globalising society, never turning down an opportunity and making as many contacts as possible.
