A summit to economically empower the 3.5 billion girls and women around the world. G(irls)20 Summit will bring together one girl, between the ages of 18-20, from each G20 country plus one representative from the European Union and African Union. The Summit, taking  place in Moscow from June 15 to 19, will precede the G20 Summit and will try to persuade  G20 leaders of the importance of investing in girls and women. Girls’ economic empowerment is decisive to the economic growth of our communities. Studies show that  women reinvest 90% of their income back into their families and ultimately their communities, whereas men only give back 30%. Women make up over half of the world’s population, yet they receive only one percent of the world’s foreign aid.
The delegates will debate, discuss and design innovative ideas necessary to improve the growth of communities, countries and companies by empowering girls and women globally and present their ideas to G20 leaders.
The first 2-3 days will be dedicated to workshops, that will enable  delegates to  acquire new skills in several different areas including: media and communications, financial fundamentals, leadership development, creating their own grassroots initiative. The Summit will take  place over the next two days. The programme includes conferences on economy, debates on growth and gender equality.
At the end of their deliberations, the delegates will prepare a communiqué to G20 leaders of innovative recommendations to give women a place in the economic agenda.
The girls’ mission does not end when they leave Moscow: through a mentorship programme the G(irls)20 Summit helps  delegates in designing  community-based initiatives that will help to empower other girls and women in the delegate’s backyard. These initiatives have already produced amazing results, like raising awareness about the rights, health and empowerment of women and girls, creating jobs and teaching girls and boys how to read.
